I came across Ronald Jenkees a few years back on YouTube and was amazed by his playing the keyboard but then lost track of him, until today. I came across his amazing music once again on YouTube and thought since his videos have had over 40 million views (watch them all here) that you to will possibly like him as well.

He’s a master at the keyboard, a musician. His music is Electronic, Hip Hop. His look is… watch the video below, LOL. You will also see how genuine he is and encouraging to others to keep up with playing music, even simple stuff like jamming out on Marry had a little lamb. You will have to watch the video below for that one.

His latest CD, Disorganized Fun, along with his original CD, Ronald Jenkees are both brilliant to say the least. You can take a listen to his latest album here at the thesixtyone.

Joby Gorillacam is a Must Have iPhone App

Gorillacam is a FREE iPhone app that is a must have. It’s the camera app that Apple should have had from the start, or at least updated it by now. I mentioned before about ProCamera for the iPhone. It’s WAS a great camera app that only cost a few dollars, that is until Gorillacam came along, for FREE!

Gorillacam’s UI is very nice and easy to use with lots of features. They just released an update making it the better of the camera apps on the app store (at least that I have used).

Back from Snowboarding in Brian Head, Utah

Capri, Maile, Helmut, Tatum and me after the first day of snowboarding

We had a great time snowboarding in Brian Head. We got there just as a small snow storm was starting to dump, which totaled 18” of fresh powder. We snowboarded in the storm the first day. It was cold and there was a bit of whiteout most of the day with half the mountain closed, because of the conditions, but it was still a good first day since the weather kept the holiday crowds away.

On the 1st of 2010 we snowboarded again but the whole mountain this time, everything was open and the conditions were great! Check out the pictures and video of us from our snowboarding trip below.

UPDATE: There seems to be a glitch with the Wildfish Rewards program website and not recording the promo code when ones sign up. I had a few tell me they signed up using my name as the promo code but Wildfish has no record of anyone signing up under me.

If you signed up using my name for the promo code, let me know, I am in contact with management and can have them manually add them until they fix the problem. If you had people sign up under you, let me know who and can get them added under you as well.

Also, you don’t have to wait for the Rewards Card in the mail to start saving and having points added to your card, just tell your server your name, they will look you up in the system and add them manually. Chow!

UPDATE II: Just got the Wildfish News email today and they mention about the Rewards Program glitch. Here is what they said:

Those that know me personally know I am always looking for a great deal. There are a few that have asked me if I could assist them in finding a deal over the years. Usually when I hear about a good deal I just send out an email blast to all my personal contacts that I think would be interested in a particular deal that I found. What I have decided to try is to assist EVERYONE that wants assistance in finding a deal at no cost. (I do accept tips if offered though).

I will post the deals I’m working on so that if others are interested as well, then more will benefit from my services. This will also help with locating the best deal. If someone sees a better price elsewhere then what I have found they can contact me or leave a comment with the deal that they found (direct links only please) and I will update the post.

I can’t guarantee I will find the better deal on everything but I will put forth a valiant effort. Sometimes deals come about when you don’t expect them but the deal is so hot that you want in on it before it’s gone. And trust me, the hottest of hot deals don’t last but a few hours or even a few minutes sometimes.

Kogi BBQ is no Roach Coach, but it is, but isn’t

I’m sure everyone has eaten off a roach coach at least once in their lives and probably said to themselves “I’ll never do that again”. Kogi BBQ has changed all that for me.

I gave it a try a little over a week ago thanks to my friend Anthony Gonzales and I’m going back today for more! Anthony first told me about it maybe 6 months ago but I had never heard of it before because they’re mostly in the LA area. Then, I get a text from him letting me know a truck was going to be here, in Costa Mesa of all places. The good news is, they have a new truck that will be servicing the OC. That means Costa Mesa will be seeing Kogi a few times a week and Kogi will be seeing me a few times a month for sure.

Is Kogi really a roach coach? It is, but it isn’t... The truck they drive is the same style as a normal roach coach you would find parked out in front of a dusty construction site but the food they turn out is better than most restaurants can dream to produce and boy do they attract a crowd. The people in the line below waited for an hour and a half just to get them some of Kogi’s Korean BBQ. (I should mention, the people in line are not in construction.)

I got there late, about 11:45PM and they had already closed the line (they close at 1 am). Luckily I was able to get someone in line to order for me. I scored, I had my food shortly after 12:00 AM. Below is a picture of what I got last weekend. A Spicy Pork taco, a Korean Short Rib taco and some Korean Sliders (the sliders were taste).

So how do you find out where the Kogi trucks will be and when? They have a website @ “KogiBBQ.com” with their weekly schedule, featured menu and more. They also twitter their location, when they’re on their way, when they’re going to close and anytime they are late. They’re totally networked!

So who’s going to join me tonight? No not at 12:00 AM! They will be at the Active Ride Shop between 6PM - 9PM Wednesday night (that’s tonight). Active Ride Shop can be found in The Camp - 2937 Bristol. The Kogi truck will be there at 6PM, I will be there a little earlier to hopefully beat the crowd.

UPDATE: Tonight, Kogi came through and so did a few friends. I added a few pictures below and replaced the pic of the menu above to a more readable pic. Didn’t get any pics of food this time, I guess too hungry. But, we got some Korean Sliders, a Black Jack Quesadilla, a kids Quesadilla, a few Korean Short Rib Burritos, and I tried the Kogi Feature: Spam-a-Lot Short Rib Burger, Mmmm MMMmm it was good. Maybe next time we’ll see you there!

Only 7 more days before Windows 7 will be released and if you’re thinking of upgrading, I put together this quick guide to make it a little easier. I will be posting the best Windows 7 deals as well so be watching for them here.

First, is your PC ready or even capable of running Windows 7? If you’re running Windows Vista you have nothing to worry about, if not then you might want to run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor that’s found here.

UPDATE: Also check out the Windows 7 Compatibility Center to see if your software and hardware are compatible.

Windows 7 system requirements: Click here for the minimum system requirements.
Whatever the minimum requirements are it’s best to double them or better to get the best performance out of any OS or software.

So your PC is ready for Windows 7, what version to get? You can compare the different version here but for the average user I recommend the Windows 7 Home Premium.

Upgrade or Full version? It’s an easier install with the full version but if you have the disc for the version of Windows you will be upgrading from then the Upgrade version is all you need. Also, it’s best to do a clean install and not install over your old OS, that way you start with a clean slate.

32-Bit or 64-Bit? This depends on your computer and the programs you use. 64-Bit performs better and faster but does your system support it? Can the everyday programs and peripherals you use work with it? The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor that’s found here will let you know, it’s just not strait forward. If you see any mention of 64-Bit than it should be able to run the 64-Bit Windows 7 OS with no problem. If you have a 32-Bit OS now, it’s almost best to stick with 32-Bit unless you think you will benefit more from the 64-Bit.

Another way to check to see if your system supports 32-Bit or 64-Bit is by downloading a small program called SIW found here. Download it, run it, once it opens up and shows your system info on the left pane expand the Hardware section and click on the CPU Info. In the right pane look at the line Number of CPU(s). At the end of that line you should see "32 bits" or "64 bits" and there you go.

Why didn’t someone invent this when I was a kid. If you have kids and they’re just learning to ride a bike, the Gyrowheel is the way to go. They could learn to ride in an afternoon. Check out this video.

Ramona trip with the guys, 2009

Some of us guys got away for a few days without the wives and headed down to Ramona for a hike, some football and relaxation (with a few pranks mixed in as well). From left to right we have Tyler, Tim, myself, Kyle, Marshall, Gabe, Dale, Loyd, Mikey, Tino and Ray.

It was very HOT for a hike but we survived, just barely! It felt like 95 to 100 degrees! Dale, Tino, Ray and I hiked to the Devils Punchbowl and back (about a 4 mile hike) while the rest went even further. Below is the trail we all took.

I was not of the majority that went further, and kind of glad since we all ran out of water 3/4 of the way back to the cars. The main reason I didn’t continue further was because halfway to the Devils Punchbowl, one of my boots decided to have a wardrobe malfunction and just as we got to the Punchbowl the other decided to do the same.

I guess it was so HOT the glue melted causing the heal to separate from the boot creating flip-flops. Maybe I should patent this idea, or NOT! Never again will I buy Stanley boots.
Good thing Mikey had some string from his backpack that I could use to keep it from totally coming apart and keep it from flopping around for the most part but this kept me from hiking up to the top of the waterfall and beyond. Maybe next year!

Scanning for faces… That's what Picasa is doing right now. If you haven’t heard of Picasa, it’s a free photo editing software from Google that lets you organize your pictures, edit them, and even create online albums to share with friends, family & the world.

Today they just released a new version, Picasa 3.5. This version gives you the ability to add name tags to your photos, using facial recognition technology. Very cool!

The facial recognition will take awhile to go through all your pictures depending on how many pictures you have but the outcome is amazing.

A few months ago we ate at Pei Wei and they had installed new menus that are actually huge LCD TVs turned sideways and have advertising of there latest menu items with animation. I thought that was pretty cool until tonight. Tonight they had something new they were advertising that they had installed, Coca Cola Freestyle.
Coca Cola Freestyle is a new help yourself futuristic fountain Coke machine that will blow you away. Check it out in the video.

Google Chrome has a new BETA out, Google Chrome 3 (BETA). It now has themes, better control with the tabs page and best of all, 30% faster.

I’ve been using Google Chrome now for about a year as my default browser. It’s faster, cleaner looking and has more web, less bars then most other browsers. It’s a little hard to get uses to but once you do you will love the speed.

I still have to use other browsers sometimes since Google Chrome is still new to the browser game, not every site supports the browser yet but most sites do.

Give it a try, you might like it.

IPhone Case Mod to MapMyRide

I've been biking quite a bit lately, two to three times a week. I was using Google maps to map my rides until I found MapMyRide.com (they use Google maps as well but with a whole lot more). At first I was mapping my routes out by hand, it was a little tedious, that is until I recently got an iPhone. Guess what? They have an app for that. No more mapping routes by hand. The GPS in the iPhone tracks every movement I make and the Free iMapMyRide app takes care of the rest.

The next thing was to mount my iPhone to my bike somehow. At first I was using an arm band but I couldn’t see it while riding and it was difficult to work the app while on my arm.

I searched and found a few mounts that were made for this but they were a little pricey and the worst part was they looked like any bump would have the iPhone sailing right out of the mount, so I came up with the iPhone case mod you see here.

To make it, I found a multi use case (Lowepro Volta 20) and cut a hole in the top to view and have access to the touch screen and the home button (see pic below).

Then I got the shoe guy down the street to punch a hole for me where the wired headphones plug in. It’s not the cleanest job, but works for now, I eventually want to get a Bluetooth wireless headset.

Then I had the shoe guy sew onto the front of the case a Velcro tab to secure it around the goose neck of my bike, then he made a Velcro belt for the belt loop on the bottom of the case to fasten to the top bar of my bike.

Altogether it cost me about $32.00. What do you think?

Our baby Hummingbirds

Was picking some kumquats for the wife as something flutters down, a young Hummingbird. I looked up and found the nest with one other sibling. As videoing the mother came by and sounded very pissed. I did get the young Hummingbird back in the nest with out incident.

The young hummingbird is back comfortably with sibling in there little nest.

Three or four days later the two young hummingbirds got there wings and flew the coup.

Push-Ups - Week ending in failure but feeling pumped!

Well, the week for the One Hundred Push Up program ended in failure but I still feel really pumped and I am definitely feeling stronger! Monday I will Conquer Week 2 Day 1!!! It’s mine!

My weeks workout:

Week 2 Day 1 - 9.11.8.5(8).5(11) - FAILED!
Week 2 Day 1 - 9.11.8.8.9(11) - FAILED!

I should mention, Erik, Jeff and I took up biking this week (all are welcome to join us). And I feel that has zapped a lot of energy out of me. I also feel that leaning over the bars for an hour or two is definitely impacting my push-ups. I failed miserable on Wednesday’s workout after doing a 13 mile bike ride (Back Bay Loop) on Monday.

We did another 12 to 13 mile ride yesterday, again the Back Bay Loop. I felt a lot better after that ride compared to the first one. I’m sure it impacted today’s push-ups. Even though I failed, I didn’t fail as miserably as I did on Wednesday.

Push-Ups - How many pounds are you pushing-up?

Well, I FAILED! For the One Hundred Push Up program Week 1 Day 3, the max set was to do at least 10. I only did 8! Looks like I’ll be starting this week all over again!

My weeks workouts:
Week 1 Day 1 - 10.7.4.4.6
Week 1 Day 2 - 6.8.6.6.7
Week 1 Day 3 - 8.10.7.7.8

I know I’m getting stronger by doing push-ups every other day but moving down to column 2 and looking at how many less push-ups it is compared to column 3 where I was first placed just doesn’t make sense. But, I am determined next week to go over the max amount each day.

I was thinking, why am I having such a hard time with this? I know I’m a big guy but how much weight am I really pushing up here? Then I thought of a way to figure out how much weight I was actually lifting up per push-up. I placed a scale in front of me and held a push-up to get the figure, 185 lbs. it read! WOW! That’s a pretty good work out I’m doing each day. That comes out to an average of 65% to 70% depending on your body type, I presume. I push up about 68% of my body weight.

Want to do more weight per push-up, elevate your feet, the percentage goes up. I will stick to the ones on the ground for now. Jamar thinks I should dig a hole for my feet, LOL.

7 Weeks to 100 Push-Ups

Erik K turned me on to this site hoping I would get on board. He thought it would be a great way to get in shape for the summer and with this site be able to motivate each other to build up to One Hundred Push Ups.

In doing this program as outlined, in 7 weeks you should be able to do 100 consecutive push ups. If you think you want to get on board in motivating us and likewise get motivated then take the Initial Push-Up Test and start logging your results today.
